Coach Certification Policy

The national framework for educating, certifying, and developing Typti coaches in India — a six-level pathway from Community Instructor (Level 0) to Master Coach Educator (Level 5), with a coach code of conduct, child safeguarding, and continuing education.

1Purpose

The Indian Typti Federation (ITYF) Coach Certification Program establishes a standardized national framework for educating, certifying, and developing Typti coaches in India. The objectives of the program are to:

  • Maintain a consistent standard of coaching across India.
  • Develop safe, ethical, and knowledgeable coaches.
  • Improve athlete performance and participation.
  • Create a structured coaching pathway from beginner to elite levels.
  • Support grassroots development and long-term athlete development.

2Coaching Philosophy

ITYF believes that every coach is:

  • A mentor

Certified coaches are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity, sportsmanship, inclusivity, and athlete welfare.

3Certification Levels

10Coach Code of Conduct

Every certified coach shall:

  • Respect athletes.
  • Respect officials.
  • Respect parents.
  • Maintain professionalism.
  • Avoid discrimination.
  • Protect minors.
  • Promote fair play.
  • Never encourage cheating.
  • Never engage in harassment or abuse.
  • Comply with ITYF policies.

Violations may result in suspension or revocation of certification.

11Child Safeguarding

Coaches working with juniors must:

  • Complete SafeSport training.
  • Follow child protection guidelines.
  • Avoid one-on-one isolated coaching environments where possible.
  • Report safeguarding concerns promptly.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

ITYF should consider requiring background verification where legally applicable.

12Continuing Coach Education (CCE)

To renew certification, coaches should complete ongoing professional development.

Requirements over a three-year cycle may include:

  • Minimum 15 Continuing Coach Education (CCE) credits.
  • Attendance at approved workshops or webinars.
  • Completion of online learning modules.
  • Participation in national coaching conferences.
  • Mentoring or being mentored within the ITYF pathway.

This keeps coaches current with rule changes, teaching methods, and best practices.

13Certification Renewal

Coach certification shall be renewed every three years.

Renewal requirements:

  • Active ITYF membership.
  • Completion of required CCE credits.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct.
  • Payment of renewal fee.
  • No unresolved disciplinary sanctions.

Failure to renew will result in certification becoming inactive until reinstatement requirements are met.

15Coach Registration

Each certified coach shall receive:

  • Unique Coach ID
  • Digital Certificate
  • Physical Certificate (optional)
  • Coach License Card
  • ITYF Coach Profile
  • Listing in the ITYF National Coach Directory
  • Permission to use the “ITYF Certified Coach” designation while certification remains valid

16Coach Benefits

Certified coaches may receive:

  • Eligibility to coach at ITYF-sanctioned events.
  • Access to coaching resources and lesson plans.
  • Invitations to continuing education programs.
  • Marketing support through the ITYF coach directory.
  • Eligibility for coach awards and recognition.
  • Networking opportunities with other certified coaches.

Fees may be revised periodically by the ITYF Executive Board.

18Grounds for Suspension or Revocation

A coach's certification may be suspended or revoked for:

  • Misconduct or unethical behavior.
  • Abuse, harassment, or safeguarding violations.
  • Falsification of qualifications.
  • Match-fixing or corruption.
  • Serious breaches of ITYF policies.
  • Actions that bring Typti or ITYF into disrepute.

Due process should include notice of the allegations, an opportunity to respond, and a decision by the appropriate disciplinary body.

19Appeals

Any coach whose application, renewal, suspension, or revocation is affected may appeal in writing within 30 days of the decision. Appeals shall be reviewed by an independent ITYF Appeals Committee, whose decision shall be final within the federation's processes.

20Long-Term Vision

Within five years, the ITYF Coach Education Program should aim to:

  • Certify 1,000+ coaches across India.
  • Appoint State Coach Developers in every affiliated state.
  • Launch a National Coach Education Academy.
  • Deliver hybrid (online + practical) certification courses.
  • Recognize excellence through annual ITYF Coach Awards.
  • Develop a coach mentoring network connecting experienced and emerging coaches.
