Equipment Licensing & Certification Policy

The national framework for testing, approving, and licensing Typti equipment as ITYF Approved — spanning rackets, balls, nets, courts, and more across five equipment categories and three certification levels.

1Purpose

The Equipment Licensing & Certification Policy establishes the standards, approval process, and licensing framework for all Typti equipment recognized by the Indian Typti Federation (ITYF).

The objectives are to:

  • Ensure player safety.
  • Maintain consistency in equipment standards.
  • Promote fair competition.
  • Encourage innovation while preserving the integrity of the sport.
  • Provide manufacturers and retailers with a recognized national certification.
  • Protect the ITYF brand through quality assurance.

2Scope

This policy applies to all equipment intended for use in ITYF-sanctioned activities, including:

  • Typti Rackets
  • Typti Balls
  • Nets
  • Posts
  • Court Flooring
  • Court Marking Systems
  • Portable Court Kits
  • Training Equipment
  • Ball Machines
  • Scoreboards
  • Coaching Aids
  • Apparel (optional)
  • Footwear (optional)
  • Accessories

Only equipment certified under this policy may be designated as “ITYF Approved”.

3Equipment Categories

ITYF recognizes the following certification categories:

4Licensing Objectives

The licensing program seeks to:

  • Ensure compatibility across all ITYF events.
  • Protect consumers from substandard equipment.

5Eligible Applicants

Applications may be submitted by:

  • Manufacturers
  • Importers
  • Brand Owners
  • Distributors
  • Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
  • Authorized Licensees

Applicants must be legally registered businesses.

6Equipment Approval Standards

All products shall be evaluated based on:

Safety

  • No hazardous materials
  • Safe construction
  • Player protection

Durability

  • Minimum performance lifespan
  • Structural integrity
  • Resistance to normal wear

Performance

  • Consistent playing characteristics
  • Uniform manufacturing quality
  • Compliance with ITYF technical specifications

Quality Control

  • Batch quality assurance
  • Traceability

7Product Categories

A. Rackets

Evaluation may include:

  • Overall dimensions
  • Weight range
  • Balance point
  • Surface composition
  • Grip dimensions
  • Edge protection
  • Durability
  • Construction quality

ITYF will publish a separate Technical Equipment Standard with precise specifications.

B. Balls

Evaluation may include:

  • Diameter
  • Weight
  • Bounce characteristics
  • Material composition
  • Visibility
  • Durability
  • Consistency across production batches

C. Nets

Evaluation may include:

  • Height
  • Width
  • Mesh size
  • Material strength
  • Stability
  • Tension system

D. Court Systems

Evaluation may include:

  • Court dimensions
  • Surface quality
  • Slip resistance
  • Portability (if applicable)
  • Line visibility
  • Safety

8Certification Levels

ITYF Approved

Suitable for:

  • Recreational play
  • Schools
  • Community programs

ITYF Competition Approved

Suitable for:

  • District events
  • State tournaments
  • Academy competitions

ITYF Championship Approved

Approved for:

  • National Championships
  • International events hosted by ITYF
  • Elite competition

9Application Process

Applicants shall submit:

  • Completed application form
  • Company registration documents
  • Product specifications
  • Technical drawings (where applicable)
  • Manufacturing details
  • Product photographs
  • Samples for testing
  • Product warranty information
  • Quality assurance documentation
  • Applicable certification fee

10Testing Process

Products may undergo:

  • Visual Inspection
  • Dimensional Measurement
  • Weight Verification
  • Material Assessment
  • Performance Testing
  • Durability Testing
  • Safety Evaluation
  • Field Testing by ITYF-appointed evaluators

ITYF reserves the right to appoint independent testing laboratories where appropriate.

11Approval Committee

Applications shall be reviewed by the ITYF Equipment Standards Committee, comprising technical experts and independent advisors as required.

The committee may:

  • Approve
  • Approve with conditions
  • Request modifications
  • Reject

12License Validity

Equipment certification shall be valid for three years, subject to continued compliance.

ITYF may require earlier review if:

  • Product specifications change.
  • Manufacturing processes change.
  • Safety concerns arise.
  • Complaints indicate quality issues.

13Renewal

Renewal applications should be submitted at least 90 days before expiry.

Renewal requires:

  • Confirmation of unchanged specifications (or disclosure of changes).
  • Updated quality documentation.
  • Payment of renewal fee.
  • Submission of samples if requested.

14ITYF Certification Mark

Approved products may display the official “ITYF APPROVED” or “ITYF CHAMPIONSHIP APPROVED” mark.

The certification mark:

  • Must not be altered.
  • Must be displayed according to ITYF Brand Guidelines.
  • May only be used while certification remains valid.

Misuse of the mark may result in legal action and withdrawal of certification.

15Manufacturer Responsibilities

Licensed manufacturers shall:

  • Maintain product quality.
  • Notify ITYF of material or design changes.
  • Cooperate with audits or inspections.
  • Address verified quality complaints promptly.
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations.

16Retailer & Distributor Recognition

ITYF may recognize retailers through an Authorized Retail Partner Program.

Benefits may include:

  • Official listing on the ITYF website.
  • Use of the “Authorized ITYF Retail Partner” logo.
  • Early access to approved product information.
  • Participation in federation events.

Retail recognition does not replace product certification.

17Marketplace & E-Commerce

ITYF may operate an official marketplace featuring certified products.

Participation may be offered to approved manufacturers and retailers under commercial agreements.

Products listed should clearly indicate their certification status.

Fees are indicative and may be revised by the ITYF Executive Board.

19Compliance Monitoring

ITYF may conduct:

  • Random market sampling.
  • Product re-testing.
  • Factory visits (where agreed).
  • Consumer complaint investigations.
  • Verification of certification mark usage.

Non-compliance may result in corrective actions or withdrawal of approval.

20Suspension or Withdrawal of Certification

Certification may be suspended or revoked if:

  • Products fail testing.
  • Safety concerns arise.
  • Specifications are changed without approval.
  • Certification marks are misused.
  • Fees remain unpaid.
  • False information is provided.
  • The product brings Typti or ITYF into disrepute.

Manufacturers shall have an opportunity to respond before a final decision is made.

21Appeals

Applicants may appeal a certification decision within 30 days.

Appeals shall be considered by an independent Appeals Committee appointed by ITYF.

22Intellectual Property

All ITYF logos, certification marks, and related branding remain the intellectual property of the Indian Typti Federation.

Use is granted only under a valid licensing agreement and in accordance with ITYF Brand Guidelines.

23Technical Standards Manual

ITYF shall publish and periodically update a separate Technical Standards Manual containing detailed specifications for:

  • Racket dimensions and tolerances.
  • Ball weight, diameter, bounce, and materials.
  • Net height and construction.
  • Court dimensions and markings.
  • Surface requirements.
  • Approved colors and visibility standards.

These technical standards shall form part of this policy by reference.

24Innovation Pathway

To encourage product development, ITYF may establish an Innovation Review Program.

Manufacturers introducing new materials, designs, or technologies may submit products for evaluation before commercial release.

This enables innovation while ensuring that changes do not compromise fairness or safety.

25Commercial Partnerships

ITYF may appoint:

  • Official Equipment Partner.
  • Official Ball Partner.
  • Official Racket Partner.
  • Official Court Supplier.
  • Official Technology Partner.

Such partnerships do not exempt products from meeting the federation's technical standards unless otherwise specified by ITYF policy.
