Tournament Sanction Policy

The framework by which the Indian Typti Federation approves, regulates, and oversees Typti tournaments — covering recognition tiers, sanction categories, standards, fees, and organizer obligations from club events to national championships.

1Purpose

The Tournament Sanction Policy establishes the framework for the approval, regulation, and oversight of Typti tournaments conducted under the authority of the Indian Typti Federation (ITYF).

The objectives are to:

  • Ensure consistency in tournament organization.
  • Protect the interests of players and officials.
  • Maintain fair competition.
  • Standardize playing conditions.
  • Promote athlete safety.
  • Support national rankings.
  • Enhance the professional image of Typti in India.

This policy applies to all tournaments seeking official recognition from ITYF, including:

  • State Championships
  • District Championships
  • Club Tournaments

3Tournament Categories

ITYF shall recognize the following categories:

4Sanctioning Authority

Tournament approval shall be granted by:

  • ITYF Tournament Committee
  • Technical Committee
  • Secretary General (administrative approval)

Final approval shall be issued in writing by ITYF.

Applications may be submitted by:

  • District Associations
  • Clubs
  • Academies
  • Educational Institutions

  • Event Management Companies
  • Government Bodies

Applicants must be in good standing with ITYF.

Sanctioned tournaments receive:

7Tournament Sanction Categories

Bronze

  • Club events

Silver

Gold

8Tournament Standards

Every sanctioned tournament shall meet minimum standards for:

Venue

  • Approved court dimensions
  • Safe playing surface
  • Adequate lighting
  • Spectator safety
  • Seating
  • Washrooms
  • Drinking water
  • Medical access

Equipment

Only ITYF-approved:

  • Rackets
  • Balls
  • Nets
  • Court markings
  • Scoreboards

Officials

Minimum requirements:

  • Tournament Director
  • Chief Referee
  • Certified Referees
  • Court Officials (as required)
  • Medical Officer (recommended for larger events)

9Player Eligibility

Players participating in ranking events shall:

  • Hold a valid ITYF Player Membership
  • Comply with the Code of Conduct
  • Meet the age/category requirements
  • Complete registration before the published deadline

11Tournament Application Process

Applications should be submitted at least:

  • Platinum: 120 days before the event
  • Gold: 90 days
  • Silver: 60 days
  • Bronze: 30 days

  • Prize structure
  • Safety plan
  • Insurance details (where applicable)
  • Technical officials
  • Event budget

13Ranking Points

Only ITYF-approved tournaments may award official ranking points.

Ranking allocations shall depend on:

  • Match completion
  • Compliance with technical standards

ITYF will publish a separate National Ranking Policy.

14Branding Requirements

Sanctioned tournaments shall:

  • Display the ITYF logo on promotional material.
  • Use the official event designation (e.g., “ITYF Gold Sanctioned Event”).
  • Include ITYF branding on the main backdrop and courts where practical.
  • Acknowledge ITYF in media releases and digital communications.

15Medical & Safety Requirements

Organizers shall provide:

  • First Aid Kit
  • Emergency contact information
  • Hydration facilities
  • Safe playing environment
  • Heat management protocols (where applicable)
  • Emergency evacuation procedures for larger events

Medical personnel should be present for Gold and Platinum events.

16Anti-Doping & Fair Play

Participants shall comply with:

  • ITYF Code of Ethics
  • Anti-Doping Policy (as adopted by ITYF)
  • Anti-corruption provisions
  • Fair play principles

17Photography & Media Rights

Unless otherwise agreed:

  • Organizers may promote the event locally.
  • ITYF retains the right to use event photographs, videos, results, and statistics for promotional, archival, and educational purposes.
  • Commercial broadcast arrangements should be coordinated with ITYF for Platinum events.

18Prize Money

Organizers shall:

  • Publish prize money before registrations open.
  • Disburse prize money within 15 days of event completion unless otherwise specified.
  • Comply with applicable tax laws.

Failure to pay prize money may result in sanctions.

19Event Reporting

Within seven days of tournament completion, organizers shall submit:

  • Final results
  • Match scores
  • Rankings data
  • Referee report
  • Incident reports
  • Attendance figures
  • Event photographs
  • Media coverage summary

20Code of Conduct

Tournament organizers shall ensure that:

  • Players, coaches, officials, and spectators behave respectfully.
  • Harassment, discrimination, abuse, and violence are not tolerated.
  • Decisions of referees are respected.
  • Disciplinary matters are reported promptly to ITYF.

21Suspension or Withdrawal of Sanction

ITYF may suspend or revoke sanction if an organizer:

  • Provides false information.
  • Fails to meet technical standards.
  • Breaches financial obligations.
  • Misuses the ITYF name or logo.
  • Compromises player safety.
  • Fails to submit required reports.
  • Brings the sport into disrepute.

22Appeals

An organizer may appeal a sanction-related decision within 14 days of notification. Appeals shall be reviewed by the ITYF Appeals Committee, whose decision shall be final within the federation's internal processes.

23Annual Tournament Calendar

ITYF shall publish an annual calendar by 31 December for the following competition year.

Priority will generally be given to:

  • National Championships
  • National League
  • State Championships
  • Regional Opens
  • District Championships
  • Club and Academy Events

This helps avoid scheduling conflicts and provides clarity for players and organizers.

24Organizer Recognition Program

To encourage excellence, ITYF should introduce an annual Organizer Accreditation Program:
